JOB DESCRIPTION


LOCATION: NAIROBI

QUALIFICATION/EXPERIENCE:

  •  Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in environmental related science, environmental engineering, project management, economics, business administration or related field is required. A first level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree.
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in project or programme management, administration or related area is required.
  • Experience in implementing environmental programmes or projects is desirable.
  • Experience working in, or with, developing countries is desirable.
  • Experience in providing policy advice or technical cooperation services to government authorities at regional or international levels is desirable.
  • Experience in ozone depleting substances (ODS) phase-out or hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) phase down activities is desirable.
  • Experience with UN system, governmental or non-governmental institutions implementing Montreal Protocol programmes is desirable.
 
 
SKILLS: 
 
PROFESSIONALISM: Knowledge of theories, concepts and approaches related to international donor programmes, including the Multilateral Fund, and international policy-setting processes. Demonstrates professional competence and mastery of phase out of ozone depleting substances and compliance with the Montreal Protocol in the Francophone Africa region. Ability to identify key strategic issues, opportunities and risks. Ability to generate and communicate broad and compelling organizational direction. Ability to communicate clearly links between the Organization’s strategy and the work unit’s goals. Demonstrated ability to provide innovative technical leadership by performing and/or overseeing the planning, development, and management of operation.
